about

I love this tune but Doris Day didn’t. She thought it sounded like a children’s song a refused to record more than one take. It became her signature song.
The song, by the writing team of Livingston and Evans is from the Alfred Hitchcock movie, “The Man Who Knew Too Much.” The story is Hitchcock came to them and asked them to write an “foreign but not too foreign” sounding song for the movie. They had previously written Que Sera Sera but waited two weeks to show him. Hitchcock loved it when they did.
I also love Irish music and have always wanted to write a jig and a reel and now I have. And never will again.
